Yours or someone else's — we contact them privately for their blessing before anything goes public. A photo helps but isn't required.
The panel scores every consenting roof from photos and imagery, and every nominated roof gets $200 off any roof or moss service (through Aug 31). Finalists, announced Aug 10, receive the official in-person judging visit — documented, scored, and taken very seriously.
The public votes Aug 10–16. One champion is crowned Aug 17 and gets a complete roof cleaning + moss treatment, free, plus eternal neighborhood bragging rights.

Yes, it's rigorous
Our panel scores every consenting roof from photos and imagery, then visits the finalists in person. Panel score is half the final result — the public vote (Aug 10–16) is the other half. This is science. Sort of.

Yes — that's half the fun. We contact the homeowner privately for their OK before their roof appears anywhere public or gets judged. No consent, no posting, no exceptions. Most people are delighted; free roof cleaning tends to smooth things over.
No. Moss is what happens when you own a roof in the Pacific Northwest. It's weather, not a character flaw. That's why it's the Mossiest Roof contest, not the "worst" anything.
No. Entry is completely free, and buying nothing whatsoever has zero effect on your odds. (Washington law and we agree on this.)
Finalists get an official in-person visit: one of our roof experts photographs and scores the moss. 20–30 minutes, no ladder-climbing required from you, no obligation. Not a finalist? You can still request a free estimate any time — and your $200 off works either way.
If a roof turns out to be unserviceable (rare), the owner receives an equivalent service credit instead.
